Deputy Director

Gail Casper, R.N., Ph.D., is a researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Nursing. Dr. Casper received a Masters of Science from the University of Wisconsin and a Ph.D. in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Longstanding interest in informatics led her to study with Dr. Brennan at CWRU and later at UW. She has also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Medical Informatics and Health Services Research at the Regenstrief Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana. Following seven years of clinical practice in Medical-Surgical nursing, Dr. Casper held several academic positions and is now pursuing a career transition focusing on clinical informatics and research. She is currently working with Dr. Brennan on the HeartCare project, focusing on the intersection between technology and nursing practice in the delivery of home care to patients with chronic heart disease. In addition, Dr. Casper has conducted several studies exploring the elicitation of patient preferences through interview and visual analogue techniques.
