The Project HealthDesign Common Platform is a set of software components that provide common, shared functions to a variety of personal health applications (PHAs).
The Common Platform centralizes services for storing information such as observations of daily living (ODLs) and medication lists, as well as for providing authentication, registry, and access-control functions. Project HealthDesign 2006-2008 grantees developed applications on the Common Platform, demonstrating the feasibility of interoperability among grantee PHAs.
Through an open source agreement, developers and other users have secure access to the
Project HealthDesign Common Platform Development Environment (PHD-CDE) which is hosted and supported on a server by
Sujansky & Associates, the project’s technical consultant.
Potential users are able to access the PHD-CDE through two types of accounts:
- CDE Developer Account – This will allow developers to create a user account and an application account with the hosted Common Platform web service and will grant rapid access to the Common Platform services for registering patients, and creating medication and ODL records. This hosted web service is a prototype only and not intended for use with real patient data.
- CDE User Account – This will allow a casual user to access the Project HealthDesign Common Platform Sample Application, a sample client application that allows users to login, create patient records, create medication and ODL records, and administer their user account. This user account type is not intended for developers but rather for those interested in learning more about the capabilities of the Common Platform.
A third option is available for those who would like to assume the responsibility of managing the PHD-CDE server deployment and maintenance, please see the
Source Code page.
