George Ferguson, Ph.D.

Dr. Ferguson’s research asks how people think about, talk about, learn about, and ultimately solve problems, and how we can build intelligent systems that work with them to help them solve those problems. Dr. Ferguson has a B.S. degree, magna cum laude, in Mathematics and Computer Science from McGill University, an M.S. Degree from the University of Alberta, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Rochester. He has served on program committees and review panels for numerous conferences, journals, and agencies. He was co-Program Chair of the National Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI-2004), and was the founding chair of the AAAI Intelligent Systems Demonstrations Program, whose goal was and is to get exciting AI projects out of the lab and into the spotlight. Dr. Ferguson is also a founding member of the University of Rochester’s Center for Future Health, whose mission is to develop novel technologies and systems that empower people to take better care of their health.
